Hi There,
This week has been quite phenomenal with the EMPR Workshops on how to rapidly heal trauma.
I am frequently asked why I am doing this? And frequently challenged how is this possible.
Let me explain.
Working with so many people and listening to thousands of traumatic stories, the real reason behind trauma is memory.
Whether the symptoms are anxiety, depression, grief, jealousy or suspicion, there is an underlying trauma which can be a bio memory or a physical memory.
It doesn’t matter whether the memories are yours’ or if they are 100% accurate because what you believe is your reality and your world.
According to the science of false memories, all of your memories, even those you most cherish, are prone to corruption and distortion.
This afternoon, I was talking to a very good friend of mine and we were discussing collective forgiveness.
Now you must be wondering how memory and collective forgiveness are related?
Our past around the world is not glorious.
Wars, Racism, Slavery, Abuse plays a major role in how the last few generations evolved. Irrespective of whether we acknowledge it or not, we carry traumatic memories and thereby our own beliefs, decisions and choices are affected by those subconscious traumatic memories.
But what if we can create good memories for our next generations by deciding to collectively stand together to stop the trauma in its tracks?
What if we choose to resolve our trauma and empower ourselves to forgive those oppressors, abusers and war wagers?
Let me tell you, one of the most common statements I hear from my clients who experienced Trauma is “I forgave my abuser”
But do you think that solves the problem? NO.
Forgiveness alone is not the solution. Resolving our own traumatic memories and thereby realising forgiveness is a mere label gives us that extra edge to create a better world for future generations.
And how is this possible?
If you and I can take a decision to choose to stop trauma in its tracks and step into the present, it is possible.
Spanish Artist – Salvador Dali, famously said “The difference between false memories and true ones is the same as for jewels: it is always the false ones that look the most real, the most brilliant”
We can create good memories collectively by joining hands to free, generations to come.
So, if your memory can be distorted and corrupted to create an illusion and pain, why not choose to distort it to heal your trauma?
Something to think about.
