These are the books that quintessentially shaped me.
And this was my dad’s demand that I finish reading these books before I turn 16.
It was hell as hard to read and understand the real concepts behind but the condition was that I should read and share the story with my dad.
That made it all the more interesting.
I lived in my head and these characters talked to me, inspired me and pushed me to stretch my imagination and reality.
- Individuality
- Lateral Thinking
- Power of Mind
- Alchemy
- Leadership
- Questioning the status quo
- Courage to be ordinary
- To live today as if there is no tomorrow
- How death is as simple as changing old clothes!!
These concepts intrigued me.
I remember spending weeks and weeks understanding selfishness vs selflessness.
Had to remember and recite this statement everyday:
“Means should be loved and cared for, as if they were the end in itself”
Looking back, yes, my childhood was tough but the protagonists and characters in these books remained my friends.
And I still believe this simple statement encapsulates the whole gambit of mindful living.
“Means should be loved and cared for, as if they were the end in itself”
Love, Mindfulness, Detachment and Living – In that moment
That’s all it matters really.
Love to know what are some of your books that shaped you.
Let me know.
